HIV Counseling & Testing

Trained by the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, health promoters offer confidential HIV rapid testing. Testing is offered daily at our on-site lab, during health fairs, and at strategically identified sites in the community. Those who test preliminary HIV positive are referred to culturally sensitive HIV treatment providers for confirmatory testing and care.

Know Your Status – HIV 101 Workshops

Community health promoters offer HIV prevention workshops, which were created to educate the community on risks, to identify methods of prevention and to encourage community members to Know their Status and obtain an HIV rapid test. These workshops take place in Mixteca and at various community sites.

Womens

Women’s Health & Sexuality Workshop Series

A 5-session (10-hour) women’s health workshop series, which is offered twice a year, is for many women the first time they have access to accurate reproductive health information. The goal of the workshops is to empower women with the information, skills and confidence needed to advocate for safer sex and HIV prevention.
