Tu Salud, Tu Vida - Health Awareness and Prevention
Tu Salud, Tu Vida - Programa de Salud Preventiva
Our Health Awareness and Prevention program provides culturally appropriate life-saving health information at sites in the community where immigrants congregate, work and live. We use our social networks to outreach to the community and to identify sites such as churches, factories, restaurants, health clinics, and Laundromats for preventative health workshops on health risks affecting our community. Our Community Health Promoters, along with volunteer outreach workers, explain immigrants’ rights to health care and facilitate entry into hospitals and clinics, direct families in need to New York State insurance programs, and distribute Spanish language health materials designed specifically for our community.
Nuestro Programa de Salud Preventiva imparte información critica de salud en sitios donde nuestra comunidad vive, trabaja, y se congrega. Utilizamos nuestra red social para alcanzar a la comunidad en iglesias, fabricas, restaurantes, lavanderías, consultorios médicos, y centros comunitarios, entre otros. Nuestras Promotoras de Salud educan a inmigrantes sobre sus derechos a servicios médicos, facilitan el acceso a hospitales y clínicas comunitarias, dirigen familias a proveedores de seguro medico del estado, y distribuyen material educativo diseñado específicamente para nuestra comunidad.
Health Fairs
Mixteca Organization, Inc. organizes four community health fairs annually at various sites in the community where we offer confidential HIV/AIDS testing and counseling, health screenings, and referrals to community hospitals and clinics, cancer screening centers, and other community resources. These events serve as fun and attractive gateways to medical services and information much lacking in our community.
Ferias de Salud
Mixteca Organization, Inc organiza cuatro ferias de salud anualmente donde ofrecemos la prueba gratuita y confidencial de VIH/SIDA y rastreos médicos además de enlaces con clínicas y hospital comunitarios, centros de análisis de cáncer, y diversos recursos comunitarios. Estos eventos sirven para concienciar a familias sobre la salud preventiva y ofrecen un acercamiento a servicios e información medica que tanto falta en nuestra comunidad
Yoga for Families
Yoga Familiar
Every Saturday afternoon Mixteca Organization, Inc brings the timeless physical and mental practice of Yoga to our community center. Men and women, young and old, are introduced to a discipline aimed at reducing stress and increasing strength, balance, and consciousness of the body and mind.

Cada sábado por la tarde, Mixteca Organization, Inc trae la practica meditativa y física de Yoga a nuestro centro comunitario. Nuestra programa introduce a hombres y mujeres, adultos y niños, a una disciplina diseñada para reducir el estrés, fortalecer el cuerpo, mejorar el equilibrio, y concientizar al practicante sobre su salud física y mental.
