After-School Tutoring
Mixteca Organization, Inc offers after-school tutoring for middle and high school students. This is an important service to parents that lack the English skills and education to assist their children with assignments and general schoolwork. Schools require students as young as elementary school to complete assignments on the computer and the Internet. Since many immigrant families can’t afford these luxuries Mixteca Organization, Inc offers a supported environment in which to study, do homework and work on long-term projects. The tutors are also positive older role models for local youth.
- Wednesdays through Fridays from 4:30 – 6:30 P.M. (See calendar for dates)
- Walk-in
Mexican History Classes for Families
Mexican History Classes guide families towards a more successful assimilation into American life by understanding one’s history and reflecting on the origins and evolution of Mexican culture. Mixteca Organization, Inc. works to preserve and celebrate Mexican culture offering Mexican history classes to schoolchildren and families each summer. During this five-week course, children and parents learn about cultural heritage through their common history and traditions while uniting cultures of the past with those of the present.
- Summers (July–August)
